CROSSROAD Under-15 kaji basketball team was crowned the winner of the Raiwaqa Basketball Association kaji competition. Crossroad won the U15 grade but lost the U10 grade to dot their name in the history book as one of the forces to reckon with in the competition.

RBA implemented the competition to help improve the skills and generate interest of the sport for children.

Crossroad lost 10-16 to Jazz in the U10 final but came out strong in the U15 grade with a 14-9 victory over Browning 9.

Coach Marika Binatagi took his hat off to the gallant performance of his young troops who stood tall against the challenge from Browning.

"It was a very tough game but a very good one. There has been a lot of improvement from the players. I'm so happy with the win and the kids themselves are happy.

"I believe basketball will be very competitive in the near future," Binatagi said.

He thanked the association for coming up with the initiative to implement the competition which would develop a strong platform for players who wished to pursue a career in basketball.

"This is the first time the association has organised this competition and we are happy to emerge as winners," Binatagi said.
