Big name sponsor for Yat Sen

With the Tuckers Ice Cream National Secondary Schools Basketball Championships underway, the Yat Sen Under-19 team was introduced to their new kit yesterday, which they obtained thanks to their new sponsor, Digicel.
The U19 team will face fierce competition in the tournament, with defending U19 champions Marist Brothers High looking to retain their title this year.
Melania Mataitini, the teacher in charge of the basketball teams at Yat Sen Secondary, expressed their gratitude for the new sponsorship.
“We are happy, fortunate and blessed to have Digicel sponsor our U19 boys.” The school began their tournament yesterday and will hope to go a long way after a good run up and preparations for the championship. “We have trained well; preparations have started since week five and it continued during the holidays
“The U19 boys have really prepared well and our focus now is to reach the finals this year. Having reached last year’s semifinals, our goal now is to reach the final and win the tournament,” said  Mataitini. With the positive build-up to the championship, the team and Mataitini are clearly feeling confident,
“During the build-up to this tournament, the boys have won most of their games… So we are positive that we are going to do our best and reach the final this time.” The boys U19 captain Andrew Balekiwai shares his teacher’s confidence.
“We are getting better with every game we play… I think we can reach and we can win.”
Having presented the side with their sponsored kit, Digicel head of marketing, Sheryl Singh offered Digicel’s best wishes to the team, “We hope that with our support and your hard work, you guys can reach your goals and win this tournament and I hope to see your name on our Hall of Fame alongside other winners we have supported.”
The National Secondary Schools Basketball Championships began yesterday and continues until Thursday at the Vodafone Arena and the FMF Gymnasium, with boys’ and girls’ teams from the U15, U17 and U19 categories competing in the event.
