Basketball Fiji keen on 3x3

Basketball Fiji says the three on three international competitions could suit the Fijian teams. Known also as street ball or street basketball, it is a form of the game played three a side on one hoop. There are plans in the pipeline to get Fiji to play in the shortened code, as the Fijians believe they can stamp a mark on the world stage. Fiji rep Valerie Nainima says should the national team get a chance to play the shortened code, it will help the sport in the country. “Most definitely, I think it’s an easier opportunity for our three on three teams to play internationally compared to the five on five because it’s a new event on the international level so the chances are bigger for us.” Meanwhile, Basketball Fiji is also preparing for the Oceania Under-19 Championships to be played in Suva in December.
