Fiji Sports Council Gets Assistance

The Vodafone Arena is expected to undergo a major revamp for the Oceania Under- 19 Basketball championships in November. The Fiji Sports Council received a $159,000 cheque from the Office of the Prime Minister to help with the upgrade.* In a statement released by FSC today, the upgrading is in accordance with standards of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The Oceania under 19 Basketball Championship will be held in Suva from December 1st- December 6th. Fiji will be fielding a men’s and women’s side against regional teams such as Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Tahiti, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, American Samoa and Papua New Guinea. The winner will gain automatic qualification to the FIBA U19 World Championship in Greece next year.
