Coach: Fiji will play with six men

BLK Fiji under-19 men's coach Peni Ratumaiyale has urged his players to include him in-court during their FIBA Oceania Basketball Championship next week.

While many coaches rest the responsibilities on players during their games, Ratumaiyale said they would play with six men.

"I have been telling the boys to always look to me during games and include me every time," he said.

"If other teams are playing with five players, we will be playing with six, that's including me.

"I will be on the sideline so players should look to me for guidance and assistance."

Fiji takes on American Samoa in its opening game on Monday at the Vodafone Arena.

Ratumaiyale said playing American Samoa, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and tournament favourites New Zealand at pool stages would be an uphill battle for his troops.

"We got some very tough games at pool stages so we need to take each game at a time and treat them as finals."

He added Fiji had a slight chance of qualifying for the U19 world championship.

The event starts on Monday at the Vodafone Arena.
