Fiji men settle for silver

It was Fiji who had started well and at the end of the first quarter led 17-15. Guam turned things around in the second quarter and went to the half time break leading 36-26.

Guam players were on three pointers roll, as they extended the lead with three points. To every Fiji's two, there was a three pointer from Guam.

Fiji trailed 51-44 at half time. In the final quarter it all came down to nerves. Fiji seemed to have lost theirs and Guam riding on the fact that the gold medal was getting closer, started enjoying the game and took control.

Fiji assistant coach Frank Saketa said it was not their day.

"The boys played good and I am happy with the way they played. You win some, you lose some. The plus for us is that we will get another chance when we go to the world qualifiers," he said.
