Coaches Attend 3×3 Workshop

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) conducted a one-week workshop in Suva last week. The 3×3 basketball workshop was attended by Oceania basketball coaches. FIBA Oceania representative Martin Roberts said the objective was to get more people involved in the sport.

“The 3×3 workshop is to help develop coaches in the region to deliver on the programme and to get people involved in basketball,” Roberts said. “The programme is part of the Australian government funded programme that supports the Hoops for Health programme in schools. FIBA is also trying to spread the 3×3 basketball programme to the world and this was introduced at the World Championships in 2011.”

Fiji Basketball assistant development officer Saula Koroi said the week-long programme would assist them.

“FIBA aims to make 3×3 basketball bigger and we were very fortunate to have the workshop,” Koroi said.
