Basketball Gears Up

The Fiji national basketball teams will be using the 2015 Easter Games as a build up for the 2015 Pacific Games. This was the word from Basketball Fiji chief operations officer Laisiasa Puamau ahead of the week-long meet.

“The national men’s and women’s teams will be fielding two teams into the competition,”Puamau said. “The national team, following pool play, will participate in the curtain-raiser for both the men’s and women’s Easter final as a base for selection. “The Fiji men’s and women’s teams to the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea will be announced at the end of the championship.”

Puamau confirmed the participation of 21 men’s 10 women’s teams in the competition.

“In addition, a team from New Caledonia Society Sports Independent (S.S.I) will be featuring in the men’s competition. They also competed last year.”

Puamau confirmed this year’s prizemoney for men’s and women’s would be $2000. Admission is $2 from Monday to Thursday, $4 on Friday and Saturday. The Games started last night.
