Whippy wrapped up an impressive four-year playing career for Long Island last season and will make her first foray into the coaching realm. She will be in charge of tape exchange and have a hand in monitoring the team’s academic progress. “Whippy will be fantastic in the transition with the new coaching staff,” Striegler said. “She knows the players and knows everyone on campus.” The Fiji native finished with 952 points, placing 16th in the Long Island record book. Her 416 rebounds are 19th in the Blackbirds’ annals. Whippy dished out 285 career assists, placing fifth all-time and was seventh in both three-pointers made and attempted, going 84-for-269.
