San Sebastian guns for a share of the lead with Jose Rizal while three-peat champion San Beda tries to stay close to the leaders as the
two take on different foes today in the 85th NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Stags will go for win No. 4 against the Emilio Aguinaldo Generals at 2 p.m. that would put them alongside the Bombers on top while the
Lions seek to remain just a breath away as they aim for a fourth win in five outings against the Perpetual Help Altas t 4 p.m.
San Sebastian should come fresh from an eight-day break since smashing a listless St. Benilde, 75-62, when it faces EAC, which dropped its
first three assignments.
“We hope to come out strong, we had more than a week of rest,” said San Sebastian coach Ato Agustin.
San Beda, for its part, is riding the crest of an 86-66 thrashing of St. Benilde Monday—its third in four games—and should also come in
with momentum against a Perpetual Help team rejuvenated by a 94-84 thumping of Angeles U Foundation Wednesday. Like its last two games when they blew away their opponents by a wide margin, the Lions are expected to take the fight out of the Altas in
the early goings and not give them a chance.

“Without belittling Perpetual Help, we want to take them out of the game early because we don’t want to encounter problems late in the
game,” said Lim. After absorbing its first loss of the season at the hands of San Sebastian, San Beda vented its ire on its next two opponents and won by a whopping margin of 24 points.
“We’ll take any kind of win we could take it, whether it’s a blowout or a close shave, we’ll take it,” said Lim. “We just don’t want to be
in a situation where we’re giving the other team to beat us.” Garvo Lanete has been San Beda’s biggest revelation this season after
he averaged 18 points in their last two games. “Garvo has worked hard to improve his game and he’s reaping the fruits
of his labor,” said Lim.
