Dynasty Summer Camp Dairies Day 3
So it seem as to be coming together now, kids are getting to know each other better, the skills gelling as well. it's kinda like painting a master piece, random strokes of different shapes, shades and colors come together to make a beautiful piece.
Kids were allowed to shoot around for about for about 20 minutes and then went straight into their skill stations. The coaches decided to work on a few two-man basketball skills which included give and goes, dribble at's, and ball screens. Coaches also continued to work on shooting, finishing and individual defense.
After lunch break, coach Feranmi led campers through a video session that focussed mainly on the relevance of playing multiple sports at a younger age and also the relevance of sports in genral. Videos featuring world renowned athletes like Steve Nash, Asamoah Gyan, John Terry and also Barack Obama were used to help cement the thoughts in the moemories of campers.
When the kids got back to the court, coaches decided to allow them to play a few controlled scrimmages. Coaches started with a drill called ultimate passing which involved kids trying to move from baseline to basline without dribbling or the ball touching the floor. Coaches then allowed campers to try and score but still without bouncing. Finally coaches introduced the concept of spacing. Though I've to admit that most kids had problems with the spacing(bbut even some pro's have the same problems) it was evident kids had learnt a lot after the drill.
It's been three days and and everythind's looking good and coaches are expecing an exciting 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 tournament on Friday and Saturday.
