DYNASTY BASKETBAL 3X3 TOUR 2014 MAKES ITS FIRST STOP IN KUMASI

The all awaited FIBA Endorsed Dynasty Basketball 3x3 Tour made its first stop in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. The tour which is made up of 3 qualifiers and one grand final had its first qualifier held in partnership with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Republic Hall 3x3 Tournament which is an annual event as part of the Halls' Week Activities.

The event which lasted for a period of three days from 20th - 22nd March saw a total of 16 Teams battle for qualification for the Dynasty Basketball 3x3 Tour Grand Finals in December as well as cash prize and product from sponsors.

The event was well patronized with a little over 850 spectators in attendance at the famous Republic Hall 3on3 court. This was the first time the event was played under the FIBA 3X3 rules and it wasn't surprising when players struggled in the early stages to get familiar with the rules. After a few games both players and fans had become comfortable with the rules and were enjoying each game.

The first day saw all group stage games played with the exception of Pool D which had two of the tournaments top teams finish their group games on the second day. The second day saw the completion of the 1/4 stage of the tournament. The Final Four & Finals was played on the last day of the tournament and it was TEAM VIPERS,R5,BOOTOS BOYS, & ABC that made it through.

A closely played Final four saw TEAM VIPERS & TEAM R5 make it to the finals. It was a finals battle between the Home based Team Vipers (in purple jersey) against the Accra based Team R5. The young and energetic TEAM VIPERS from Kumasi won the day by 22:18 in a 20min/20pts game. Team Vipers & Team R5 have qualified for the Dynasty Basketball 3x3 Tour Grand Finals in December. Nevertheless both teams are hopeful to compete again in April to improve the individual player rankings.

FIBA Endorsed DYNASTY BASKETBALL 3X3 TOUR 2014 is proudly supported by Rebound GH (Official photography & video partner, Jersey Provider for all Qualifiers) , Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA), and DC Dynamics.
