TRANSFORMING ASENEMA BASIC SCHOOL THROUGH CAMP 2014

Dynasty Basketball has over the years taught and involved young people who signedup to our various programs about community service and its importance in developing oneself and the community they live in. This year in our search to add more value to our 6th Annual Summer Basketball Camp which will from now on be known as the Transformational Camp we were introduced to the rural town of Asenema in the Akuapem North of the Eastern Region. This is a town which is famous for its one and only tourist attraction the Asenema Waterfalls. Many travel from far and near to have a feel of the refreshing waterfalls but hardly do they enter into the town itself unless they are in need of basic amenities which are even hard to find within the small town with a population of around 800people.

Just some few meters from the Waterfalls on the main road is the ASENEMA D/A BASIC SCHOOL which is spotted on the right side of the town when coming in from the Aburi-Akropong road. The school has a total population of around 300-400 pupils from Kindergarten to Junior High School (KG – Grade8). Upon seeing the smiles and enthusiasm on the faces of the kids as they walked to school we were immediately touched to be a part of the Long Term Development and growth of the school. The school which is the only school within the town and its surroundings lacks a lot of school facilities and resources which can go a long way to training and raising valuable people who can one day impact the town and the people within it.

How Does Dynasty Basketball come in? Dynasty Basketball will adopt ASENEMA D/A BASIC SCHOOL beginning from our 6th Annual Summer Basketball Camp 2014 which will be taking place at the newly built St. Michaels Youth Hostel in the cool town of Aburi also in the Akuapem area in the Eastern Region.  Our adoption program will involve campers, staff, players, and partners of Dynasty Basketball volunteering in various capacities during programs, vacations, holidays, and some selected weekends throughout each year. Also a percentage of profit made from all various Dynasty Basketball programs which currently includes Basketball Camps, and FIBA Endorsed 3x3 will go into sustainably supporting the adoption program and it will be used to pay school fees of some of the students in the school, refurbishing facilities, provision of school resources, and Professional Development of some of the Teachers and Staff of the School. Dynasty Basketball is very excited about this project we know that in the long run it will play a role in defining our vision of “Developing valuable people in Ghana irrespective of their background or gender to impact others and communities now and in the future”.

The upcoming Dynasty Summer Basketball Camp from the 27th July – 2nd August 2014 will involve campers and camp staff refurbishing one of the school’s Class One (Grade 1) Classrooms and also running a team building clinic on Wednesday, 30th July 2014 for the Asenema D/A Basic School kids who will be on vacation during that period.
