2013 ADFBA National Championships

The 30th Anniversary ADF National Basketball Championships were held November 2013 at Randwick Barricks, New South Wales.

The Women's competition was won by ACT/WAGGA defeated a QLD team attempting to win its third consecutive championship. The ACT/WAGGA women displayed a strong and dominant performance throughout the entire competition, remaining undefeated. A valiant fight back by the QLD women saw them close the gap between the teams, however the ACT/WAGGA team maintained their lead to take the grand final out 63 to 50. The Queensland men continued to dominate the National Championships, retaining the title for a third year, with a physical but comprehensive victory over the NSW men 83 to 48. This was a special tournament with the inclusion of the ADF Masters mens and womens teams, commemorating 30 years of ADF Basketball.

MAJ Wendy Jeffrey, from Victoria, took out MVP honours for the women while ADFBA Master's player Mr Aaron Marsh showed everyone a thing or two, taking out the MVP honours for the men. Rookie of the year awards were received by SIG Leah Swain (QLD), for the women and AB Ben Jay (NSW), for the men. This year's Women's Player's Player award was closely contended, ultimately being received by both Mrs Karen Hill (ACT/WAGGA) and LCPL Kylie Guarino (VIC). SIG Thomas Zerna (QLD) took home the honour amongst the men.

The three point-shoot out was closely contested by the women, with SA  CPL Michelle Joy edging out strong showings from both ACT/WAGGA and the ADFBA Masters.  CPL Matthew Rugendyke cleaned up the competition for the men.

Long service awards for the continued service to the ADFBA, encompassing 10/15/20/25 years, were awarded to a number of current and ex-serving ADF members. This year also saw, along with the 2014 ADFBA National teams, the naming 10 year anniversary teams; an All Star Team of the Decade of the best players that have represented the ADFBA over the past 10 years. CPL Dean BurkeQLD Women's Coach, was awarded the Major Greg 'Frenchie' MacDougall Award for his long and ongoing contribution to the ADFBA.
