Bears Advance to WNWBL Championship Game

Stacks Goudkamp Bears are the first team through to Sunday’s WNWBL Championship game with a 62-40 win over minor premiers Victoria.

Mari Amimoto led the Bears into the first change with 8 first quarter points before handing over to Kylie Gauci who had 8 of her own in the second to lead all scorers with 14 at half time.

11 turnovers was the worry for Victoria in the first half as the trailed 31-23 at the main break and they tried everything to get back in the game in the second, including starting the last quarter with just four players. Alice Hammond (Victoria) played her best game in a wheelchair with 14 points and 8 rebounds but the second half belonged to the Bears

Amimoto and Gauci were allowed far too much freedom and continied to make the Victorians pay. Amimoto finish as the game’s top scorer with 25 points, while Gauci added at to go with her 12 assists.

It’s not all doom and gloom for Victoria though as they will face the winner of the second semi-final between hosts the Sydney Uni Flame and Be Active Western Stars.
