2017 JUNIOR COACHES EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
These positions are available for the following age groups
- Under 12 Boys and Girls
- Under 14 Boys and Girls
- Under 16 Boys and Girls
- Under 18 Boys and Girls
- Youth League Men and Women
Our aim at the Mustangs is to provide our teams with the best possible chance of competing at the highest level of junior basketball and with this in mind coach positions are an integral part of our structure.
In 2017 the Maitland Mustangs are proposing to field 2 teams in each of the age groups, except Youth League. Division 2 will depend on factors including the quality and potential of the players trialling, not just numbers. The focus will be on providing quality coaching to players that are successful in making our program.
Each age group will have a Head Coach, responsible for the delivery of the overall program for both teams. The Assistant Coach will also be the Division 2 coach if a Division 2 team is entered, and the Student Coach will be a current Youth League or Senior player who wishes to align to a junior team and be mentored by the Head Coach.
Interested coaches need to meet the following criteria:
- Attendance at selection try outs in October-November 2016 (dates to be confirmed)
- Weekly attendance at training sessions (2 x 2 hour sessions for Head Coaches, 1 x 2 hour for Division 2/Student Coaches) and attendance at all games
- Attendance at Foundation Camp (January), and other junior representative training days.
- Regular attendance at MBA coaches meetings
- Follow the Mustangs game style as discussed and agreed amongst the coaching group
- Attendance at club sanctioned tournaments
- NCAS Level 1 Accreditation or intention to complete the course (courses available in September and October) for all Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches
- Working with Children Check
- Adherence to the Basketball NSW Coaches Code of Conduct
