DOHA: Filipino basketball superstar Cyrus Baguio will be the special guest at the upcoming Tatluhan sa Doha All-Filipino 3x3 Men's Basketball League 2014 to be held at Al Gharafa Training Gym on August 1.

The event will be organised by Pinoy Basketball of Qatar (Pibaq). Baguio, known for his dunks and acrobatic moves on the hard court, is currently playing for Alaska Aces, one of the sought-after teams of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

In his professional career, he had the opportunity of playing with other PBA favourites, including Red Bull Barako (2003 to 2008) and Barangay Ginebra Kings (2009-2010).

"Cyrus Baguio is popular among Filipino basketball enthusiasts. He is a close friend of our Youth Coach Nino Gelig. During their days with the UST Growling Tigers (one of the eight university teams making up the University Athletic Association of the Philippines), their tandem earned the title"Batman & Robin". Filipinos in Qatar are waiting to see PBA superstar Baguio," Pibaq founder Pat Carido said.

The one-day 3x3 basketball event of Pibaq will feature all-Filipino basketball teams, categorised as First Team Division and Second Team Division.

Entry to the event is free.

"We invite all Filipinos in Qatar to watch and participate in the event. Their support to this event will help us in our campaign to offer aid to our compatriots in the Philippines, who were affected by typhoon Glenda (international name Ramussan)," Carido added.
