D LEAGUE MEN - WEEK 1 PREVIEWS

 DANDENONG vs NUNAWADING

Saturday 17th March – 7:30pm

Championship and Coach of the Year in 2010 Duncan Berg returns to the league with a goal of taking the Rangers to the playoffs for the first time.  It will be an unsual feeling for Berg, coaching against his former team.  Nunawading have a vastly unchanged line-up from last year and will be a tough opponent once again this season even without 2011 MVP Mark Breda.

 

KILSYTH vs SANDRINGHAM

Saturday 17th March – 8:15pm

Sandringham had a good record against the Cobras last year and returning coach Mark Chivers will be keen to kick start his 2011 campaign with a solid road win against a potential finals aspirant.  Youngster Robert Kugler will need to produce a high quality game for the Sabres to be successful.

 

FRANKSTON vs BENDIGO

Sunday 18th March – 2:00pm

Frankston will be guided by rookie coach Rik Leknius and will be keen for a better season this year.  Leknius has lost Riggs, Bice, James and McInnes in the off-season and will need to herald a new superstar youngster to guide them to the playoffs.

 

SANDRINGHAM vs KNOX

Sunday 18th March – 2:00pm

Raiders coach Scott Christiansen has lost a lot of experience from his team that won the Championship last year.  Knox have elevated their starting five into the SEABL Championship squad and Christiansen task this year will be to develop the next crop of youngsters.  The addition of Patrick Mockiewicz will be a huge bonus for the Raiders this year

  

 

D LEAGUE WOMEN - WEEK 1 PREVIEWS

 

DANDENONG vs NUNAWADING

Saturday 17th March – 5:30pm

Dandenong will look to kick start their back-to-back championship campaign with a confidence boosting victory over arch rivals Nunawading. The Rangers have retained a core group of talented players from last year and will be a tough opponent again this year

 

KILSYTH vs SANDRINGHAM

Saturday 17th March – 6:15pm

Kilsyth have lost 2010 MVP Sam Drescher, but coach Ed Dunstan is a quality coach and is sure to develop another talented youngster to lead the Lady Cobras to victory each week.  Sabres will be led by new coach Paul Graham this season, and will look to build on the development achieved last season.

 

FRANKSTON vs BENDIGO

Sunday 18th March – 12:00pm

Experienced SEABL player Megan Moody has stepped into the coaching ranks, and will look to guide the Lady Braves to the D eague playoffs for the first time.  Moody has put together a group of 20 local youngsters that she is going to develop this year, with a view to see many of them playing SEABL In years to come.

 

SANDRINGHAM vs KNOX

Sunday 18th March – 12:00pm

After the disappointing Grand Final result last year, the Raiders will be keen to start afresh with a road victory to kick start their year.  The Raiders will be led by former Raiders great Robbie Baldwin this year, and talented youngsters Schill, Castles, May and Whelan are all returning for another opportunity at a Championship.
