IT HELPS TO GET THE AGES RIGHT !
A combination of circumstances conspired to upset the plans for World Athletics Days in Kiribati. The KAA Secretary, who would normally have done most of the organising, was in UK unexpectedly solving a medical problem. He forwarded by e-mail copies of the information about WAD but those who received it did not pass it on to the person who eventually took on the organising !
Thus Day 1 was presented as being for athletes born in 1991 and 1992. That should have read "Born in 1993 and 1994". Fortunately there were some athletes of the correct ages taking part, but the registration form showing exactly who they were has been temporarily mislaid. So it will be difficult to send results (by tomorrow !) for the older age-group.
The Secretary managed to correct the age-groups offered for the second WAD, i.e. "Born in 1995, 96, 97", in time for those to participate and be recorded. So a report can be sent on this Meeting.
Finally, the necessary advance and subsequent publicity has been limited to this web-site, a news editor here deciding that the story and pictures did not merit publication !
