ORGANISATIONAL CHAOS !
Only two paragraphs tonight, to give your reporter time to consider the best wording which should be presented to the outside world. Suffice to say, at this stage, that a 09.00 am. start (scheduled for 07.00 am.) plus a change to the programme (using up another hour) predictably caused the meeting to end farcically in the dark at 7.30 pm. (The floodlights have short range - too short to illuminate non-existent lane lines !)
Despite a few rain showers (last night and today), all the track programme was finally completed, plus all the field events except the Open Boys High Jump. The after-effects of being at the stadium at 06.00 am. to set up the track and the field events (High Jump, Shot, and Triple Jump), expecting (stupidly !) a scheduled 07.00 am. start, then having to stay for over 13 hours mostly in the sun, will be felt as I try to sleep tonight (in terms of cramp. etc.)
RECOVERY !
Plenty of drink, a cool shower, food and a good rest enabled a fairly resilient body to recover enough to report for Day 2. This time jobs included cones to be placed to mark the inside line (and check the track at the same time), sector tapes for Discus to be set up, and a Long Jump board to be solidly inserted. Then the High Jump gear to be put out again on the Volleyball court, to finish the Day 1. programme. But again, despite timely preparation, nothing happened until after 10.00 am. (Scheduled 08.00 am. start.)
