Boston to test Warriors

NATIONAL men's basketball champions, Warriors will face an uphill battle against the Boston Reds in the final round of the Raiwaqa Basketball Association (RBA) weekly club competition today.

Warriors, the defending champions of the Easter Championship, leads the competition points table and will use the match at Eds Court in Raiwaqa as build-up to their title defence next month.

However, Boston Reds with the services of national development reps in Eroni Cinavilakeba, John Kunau and Anare Motukula won't be an easy test.

RBA president Saula Koroi said the match between Warriors and Boston Reds would be the feature match of the day.

"Boston Reds won our knockout tournament while Warriors with national reps like Frank Saketa and Peni Sokosoko is leading the points table," Koroi said.

"It will be a tough battle and very exciting one as well. Tomorrow's (today) games will set up a good platform for our weekly club competition quarter-finals to be played next week."

Koroi said the final round of the weekly competition would determine the pools for the Easter Championship to be held next month.

He said a total of 16 clubs would be representing Raiwaqa at the Easter meet - eight teams each from men and women.

Meanwhile, the quar-ter-finals in the women's division of the RBA weekly competition will also be played today.

Last year's Easter champions, Sparks led by age group national coach Seini Dobui are the top favourites in this division.
