Mighty Super win

THE young Mighty Mights basketball team are slowly gaining momentum in the Raiwaqa Basketball Association Super League.

Laced with national under-16 players John Dyer and Timoci Namalo who toured Australia for the 3on3 Basketball U16 Championship last year, the side now has two wins from four games.

The Saula Koroi-coached side was tested from in round one and two, losing to Golden Bati and Boston White respectively.

However, they bounced back on Thursday night, using their speed and fitness to overcome Veterans 31-26 in extra time.

Yesterday, Dyer and Namalo led Mighty Mights to its second Super League victory over Westy Stripe 91 37-10 at Eds court.

Raiwaqa basketball official and former national rep Peniasi Kainamoli said the young Mighty Mights had a bright future.

The Mighty Mights is the development team for Boston.

"They are laced with young players who are in the U16 category. They are playing well at the moment and we have seen a lot of improvements from them compared to last year," Kainamoli said.

"They are very young but talented players. They have a very bright future and I believe in the next two years, they will be a force to reckon. Right now they are one of the upcoming teams in our league," he said.

Kainamoli said the team should continue to play together as it would improve their combination.
