Schools basketball draws interest

The Secondary Schools basketball competition continues to grow each year.

Basketball Fiji Development Officer Laisiasa Puamau says they have received confirmation from more schools looking to join the one-week tournament in Suva.

“That is also our biggest event of the year. Last year we had 67 teams compete in the championships and this year we’re looking to push that number up to 71.”

The Secondary Schools basketball championships will be held in the Term Two school holidays in June.

Puamau says this tournament will be a selection ground the Under-19 men’s and women’s team for the Oceania Youth championships that will be held in Suva this December.
