Mikaelar Whippy shares a word of advice for young kids

I had the opportunity to play College ball in the United States at a University in Brooklyn called, Long Island University and I played there for four years.   I got a scholarship through a high school connection that I had when I was schooling in New Zealand.  A girl that I played with in high school was playing In the States and told her coach that I would be interested in coming over and in my last year of high school, the Coach at Long Island called me. I accepted to come and play in Brooklyn, and in September of 2004 I came to start my first year playing college basketball. I had always dreamed of playing overseas when I was younger especially through watching college basketball on television. I was blessed to have the opportunity to play in the United States and to develop my basketball skills. I have learnt a lot from playing here and I would love to reach out to all the young players in Fiji who also have a dream of playing college basketball.  It is not impossible to come over here and with the right attitude you can make your dreams come true also. With a combination of important factors like, belief in yourself, motivation, a good attitude and an eagerness to learn and get better.
