Timely donation for basketball

Basketball Fiji coaching clinic at the Vodafone Arena tasted different for local basketball players yesterday. This was after they were donated with merchandises including balls, uniforms, water bottles and other stuff. These were donated by Cronulla Sharks player Andrew James and his wife Raijieli Ratu who are currently in the country for their Christmas holidays. Fiji Basketball Development Officer Laisiasa Puamau said they are grateful to James for such a donation which will be a boost for Basketball Fiji. “For one of the top international players to hand us such uniforms is a great enhancement for the association and our players” he said. “This will really help us in our tournaments and the players are even happy with such help to be offered to us. “He wants to do this to establish healthy working relationship with the local association. Puamau added James is also trying to get a team from his Sutherland Shire Association to compete against local players in the Eastern Championship. “The inclusion of an international team in the Easter Games will give our local players chances to prove themselves and learn more on the development and the skills of the game from their Australian counterparts. “We are happy with James's idea to bring in a team from his club to compete against our local players. “This will also establish good relationship between Fiji and the Sutherland Basketball Association,” he added.
