Basketball meet on again

ORGANISERS of the National Basketball Club Championships have confirmed the dates for the tournament. Organiser Saula Koroi said they were to run the tournament this week but due to some problems they've moved the three-day tournament to next week. Koroi said they had now confirmed the competition would be held from next Thursday with the finals on Saturday."We're all now looking forward to the tournament and all teams have been given another week to prepare and we hope to see a very high level of competition," Koroi said "The delay was something we can't do anything about but we're glad to say that the tournament will surely go ahead next week." Koroi said he had been checking with all the teams that had confirmed they are playing and everyone had been continuing their training. "For us in Raiwaqa, I can say that all seven teams had been training hard because we want to come prepared," Koroi said."The Lautoka teams have also been training very hard as they want to come and surprise the Suva teams." But Koroi said it was not only the Raiwaqa and Lautoka teams that had been preparing well. Defending champions Shaq were keeping a low profile with only days away from the start. Competition is expected to be stiff in both sections. Sixteen men's teams and eight women's teams will take part in the tournament and matches will be played at Eds Courts in Raiwaqa and at the LDS Church Courts in Raiwasa. The National Club Championships stopped abruptly in Lautoka last month as rain made the courts wet and slippery.
