Barbarians retain Tuvili Cinavi

The mighty Barbarians led by national rep Laisiasa Puamau defeated Mighty Mights 42-31 to retain the TuVili Cinavi Memorial Trophy at Eds Court in Raiwaqa yesterday.This being the first challenge for the season will be expected to get bigger in the coming weeks with more teams expected to challenge the defending champs. The team had a combination of national players with the likes of Lai Puamau, David Whippy and Adrian Bossley along with the services of other young players. The weekly challenge is held every Saturday in conjunction with the Raiwaqa Basketball weekly games. Tournament organiser Saula Koroi said both teams showed some class in the first challenge of the season. “We expect more competition as the games moves on with more teams to join in challenging the Tuvili Cinavi trophy.” “This is a good show for our Raiwaqa club in build up to national championships as we have many national players playing with us in weekly competitions. “Many players have showed up for the competition which is a positive sign for Raiwaqa for the 2010 season. Next week’s challenger is Waidonu.
