President Endorses Junior Coaching Staff

Basketball Fiji will be fielding three aged grouped National Team's to compete in International Events organized in the year 2012. Three aged group teams will be selected to participate in the FIBA Oceania U16 3 on 3 Tournament which will be held in Coffs Harbor, Australia (18th -22nd April), FIBA Oceania U19 Youth Tournament (24th Nov -2nd December in Melbourne, Australia) and Pacific High School Games which will be held in Australia in the month of December 2012.

BF President Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua has endorsed applications for the National U16's and U19's Coaching and Managements staff for the year 2012. Raiwaqa Easter Girls Champ coach Peni Ratumaiyali has been selected to guide the National U16 Men’s 3 on 3 Team and 2010 National U20 Coach Seini Dobui will coach the National U16 3 on 3 Women’s Basketball Team. Both National U16 Teams will compete in the inaugural FIBA Oceania’s 3 on 3 Tournament which will be held in Coffs Harbor, Australia from 18th -22nd April 2012.

2010 National Men’s U19 Coach Saula Koroi has been re-appointed to lead the National Boy’s U19 Team and BF’s Development Officer Laisiasa Puamau will guide the National 19 Girls’ Team, who will compete in the FIBA Oceania Youth U19 Tournament in Melbourne Australia from 24th Nov – 2nd Dec, 2012. Team manager Helen Kamsoo of Raiwaqa based Easter Champs Sparks has been appointed as National U19 Girls Team Manager and for the National U19 Boys Team Boston Club Manager Mala Ravai has been appointed as their team manager. BF’s Secretary Ned Taito has been re-appointed as Head of Delegation.

The National U19 Boys and Girls Basketball squad will be identified and announced during the National Easter Club Basketball Championships which will be held at Vodafone Arena in Suva from 2nd -7th April, 2012.

In addition BF will confirm two referees to officiate at the FIBA Oceania Youth U19 Tournament for both boys and girls following the Easter Championship. The two referees will be selected from both Nadi and Lautoka Basketball Association
