Slippery courts wash out games

THE Lautoka Basketball League organised Fitness Five Championship was washed out because of heavy rain at the Multipurpose Courts yesterday.

Only a few matches were completed in the Pacific Energy-sponsored competition before it was called off.

LBL secretary Emosi Koro said they took the welfare of the players into consideration.

He said they would try and complete the tournament next week.

"A total of 11 teams turned up," Koro said.

"It is unfortunate that it started to rain. The Multi-purpose Courts were slippery so we decided to call off the matches.

"We plan to complete it next week. However the Multi-purpose Courts are bound to close for two months for renovations. We will decide on the venue early next week."
