Naivalurua Re-Elected

After successfully hosting the FIBA U19 World qualifier last year in December, Basketball Fiji has kick-started the year with the election of a vibrant team during their annual general meeting. Ioane Naivalurua was unanimously re-elected as president of Basketball Fiji.

Basketball Fiji chief operating officer Lai Puamau said Naivalurua’s election as president again shows the association’s trust in him to steer Basketball Fiji into the right direction.

“Naivalurua’s re-election demonstrates how the association truly values his leadership and their faith in his vision in moving basketball forward in the country.” Puamau said.

Meanwhile, Major Ned Taito, following his services as secretary since 2010, was elected as vice-president while Jackie Hughes was elected as secretary and Ben Sikuri as treasurer.

Peniasi Kainamoli and Michael Whippy are the two committee members.

Puamau said that 2014 was a learning curve for them.

“Great lessons have been learned from 2014 which has formed the basis of the acceptance of Strategic Plan for 2015-2017 in the constitution.”
