Whippy Earns Spot on NACDA Scholar-Athlete Team

Whippy made 30 starts for the Blackbirds this season, struggling through a shoulder injury to help lead the team to a program-best 24-8 record and a trip to the Northeast Conference championship game. The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 8.2 points and 3.7 per game, while dishing out a total of 89 assists.
 
In her four-year career, Whippy amassed 952 points, placing 16th all-time in the Long Island record books. Her 416 rebounds are 19th at Long Island and her 285 career assists place fifth. Whippy connected on 84 three-pointers in her career, which is the seventh-highest total for a Blackbird.
 
The NACDA Scholar-Athlete Team was selected by members of the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association. Basketball players from all Division I-AAA ADA member institutions are eligible for these prestigious awards. Each of the nominees was required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials. She must have reached junior athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletics transfers are not eligible) and have completed a minimum of two full academic years at the nominated institution. She must also have participated in 50 percent of the games played at his/her designated position.
