Burns to help little ones

Federation of International Basketball Association Oceania development officer Ryan Burns is in the country to help develop the sport at primary school level. The Twisities Suva Basketball Primary competition, that is in progress, stands to benefit. Basketball Fiji development officer Laisiasa Puamau said Burns would certainly help the children broaden their knowledge of the sport.

"His (Ryan Burns) arrival could not come at a better time. He will be assisting the primary school players before the next round and I'm happy that these kids will benefit from him." Burns has helped Veiuto Primary and Latter-Day Saints Primary schools during their training sessions on Tuesday. Last night, he was at Ed's Court, conducting a referees' clinic and assisting the women's national team for the Pacific Games in New Caledonia.

Puamau said players would benefit from Burns' knowledge. "We'll be taking him around to other primary schools as well before Friday. Ryan is of a great help and even as a development officer, I am learning a lot from him. "The players will benefit in the long-term as they will increase their knowledge and skills of the game," Puamau said.

Meanwhile in tomorrow's games, Veiuto will take on Hilton Special School and Fiji Vocational plays LDS while Suva Special School takes on John Wesley Primary School in the Under-14 category. The games will be held at Ed's Court.
