Boost for Raiwaqa basketball
Telecom Fiji Limited donated $1500 to help the Raiwaqa Basketball Inter-lane league yesterday.
The competition will run for six weeks and will be called the Connect Raiwaqa Basketball Inter-lane League. TFL manager marketing Sitiveni Tawakevou says they are happy to assist.
“ We always sponsor swimming and other sports but we are now focusing on the grassroot level and Raiwaqa Basketball is our first,”he said. “We are glad that we have come down to this level and try to assist in the development of the sport.
Raiwaqa Basketball Inter-lane coordinator Peniasi Kainamoli applauded the support from TFL.
“It’s been long time since a major sponsor like TFL has come in to help us and we are very delighted with their support,” Kainamoli said.
Twelve men’s team and 10 womens team will be competing in the six weeks tournment.
Macfarlane is the defending champions for the men and Sopwart for the women.
