Basketball Fiji targets northern division

Basketball Fiji has plans to develop the sport in the northern division in the coming years.

Development officer Laisiasa Puamau says they are concentrating on secondary school level as an easy avenue to tap into the talent around the country.

“And then we hope to take the sport to the north in three years time. So hopefully we’d like to draw the sport as big as Coca Cola Games.”

The Tuckers Secondary school championship features two zones, the central and western zone with 24 schools participating this year.

The Tuckers Ice Cream Secondary school basketball national competition will be held from the 26th to the 29 of this month.
