Wise names U19 Eastern Squad

FIJI women's under-19 basketball coach Dale Wise has named her eastern squad for the upcoming FIBA Oceania Basketball Championship in December.

Wise has included last year's survivors Tiyana Kainamoli and Lela Koyamainavure who will be eligible to represent Fiji one more time.

The national women's basketball rep said the eastern-based players would go through intense training before the squad was further reduced.

"We have named the eastern and western squads," she said.

"The players will be training for some time and we will be monitoring how the players are committed to during this period before we reduce the squad again."

Wise will be hoping to name the best 10 players for the event which will be held in Fiji for the first time.

She said the western players would be monitored by Basketball Fiji's development officers who were based in the West.

"We will be visiting the western players every fortnight so we're hoping to see progress at training. Wise added fitness tests would be conducted too.
