Our Women Unbeaten

The Fiji basketball women’s team remains undefeated after their 81-73 victory against American Samoa at the Taurama BSP Arena yesterday.

The Laisiasa Puamau coached side started off well in the first quarter with a good play from aptain Valerie Nainima for the Fijians to lead 20-15.

American Samoa came back strongly in the second quarter with good defence but denied by the Fijians who led 38-29 lead at halftime. American Samoa bridged the gap early with a few three pointers but Fiji kept on applying pressure to maintain the lead 58-54

Coach Laisiasa Puamau said American Samoa was tough but the girls played as a team.

“It was a good tough game but it was teamwork that pulled us through,”Puamau said.

Fiji defeated Solomon Islands 92-55 in their second game on Monday and New Caledonia 85-40 on Sunday.
