Basketball Fiji secures new sponsorship deal

COCA-Cola Amatil Fiji have provided backing towards Basketball Fiji's Severe Tropical Winston Appeal tournament committing a $9000 donation for the four-day event.

The total donationation includes $3000 in cash and $6000 in kind with Powerade being the official drink and brand promoted for the tournament.

Coca-Cola Amatil national sales manager Lawrence Tikaram said they were pleased to support the basketball federation.

"The Easter basketball tournament has a long history and standing support over the past many years and we are happy to support Basketball Fiji on a worthy cause as I understand they are also to support the Prime Minister's relief funds," he said.

BF treasurer Ben Sukuri said they were grateful for the support; particularly with the official drink to aide the players during the competition.

"I can only wish that the tournament be successful more so that its going towards a good cause," he said.

A portion of gate takings from the four-day tournament will be directed towards the PMs relief efforts. A total of 26 teams will be participating of which lone overseas team North Bay Prospects is included. The tournament commences at 6pm today at Eds and the USP courts.
