Vikings strike thrice in b-ball title defence

VIKINGS won all three games they played yesterday in the Post Shop Easter National Basketball Championship yesterday.

The Vikings, of Lautoka, have shown they can more than hold their own against Suva's best.

Club member Thomas Zoing said, "we are here to defend our title".

"I know it is going to be tough but we came prepared."

The Vikings beat Raiwai Youth Development Program 62-11 and the Knights 32-6 before pipping Bryceland 28-27.

Both teams showed excellent team work and a strong desire to win.

But Vikings, with the help of Fiji rep Jale Vunisa, proved to be the better.

Vunisa played for Fiji in the South Pacific Games gold medal winning teams of the 2003 and 2007.

The Vikings women won by default.

The tournament continues today.
