Ahyuk helps in Knicks win

Former national basketball rep Aaron Ahyuk helped his Knicks side win the Beauty Spot Raiwaqa Basketball Revival against Powerd 32-26 at the Eds Courts over the weekend.

The teams were tied 21-21at fulltime.

Ahyuk controls play at crucial times and master-minded the moves to seal the win in extra time.

Bryce player Max Pillion Polpe praised the quality of game displayed by the two teams in the final.

He said the players played their hearts out bringing back the lost spirit which Raiwaqa is known for in the sport.

“There was a good turnout and the game provides entertainment for the spectators sitting by the roadside,” Polpe said.

“All teams were prepared and the standard of the game displayed was above expectations with a few upsets being created during the two-day event.”

“It was a great tournament with the standard of the game raised to another level starting from day one on Friday.”

He thanked the sponsors Beauty Spot for sponsoring the tournament.

The most entertaining game was between Bulldogs and Bryceland which also went to the wire.
