Close call for Shaq Attaq

MIGHTY Mights almost upset Suva giants Shaq Attaq with a close 34-31 point game at the Easter Basketball Championship at the Vodafone Arena yesterday. "Our aim in this competition is to win and although we did not win, the boys are still hopeful that they can still make it," said Mighty Mights coach Saula Koroi. This is the first time the team has competed in the Easter tournament since they were formed last year by high school students. "Most of my players are under-18 and are in the under-20 national training squad,' Koroi said. "The competition has gone a step up with all teams gauging each other very well. This was evident in the Mighty Mights versus Shaq game," said tournament organiser and Basketball Fiji's development officer, Laisiasa Puamau. "The Western teams are proving to be very competitive especially the Vikings." Randal Kamea was top scorer getting 13 points for his side but the younger and more agile Bua Chee of Mighty Mights was top scorer of the game with 15. The MM team is led by Stan Cocker.
