ACS out to retain title

Adi Cakobau School will be out to defend the Under 19 girls title in the Tuckers Ice Cream National Secondary School Basketball Championships at the Vodafone Arena. Team Manager Merewalesi Tuiloma says the girls are expecting a tough outing, with the caliber of teams in the four-day tournament. “The girls know as the year goes by…. The competition gets tougher and tougher… and especially with the national players in the other schools… so they are taking the challenge and are trying to be positive and hopefully that they will get back the title this year.” Tuiloma adds only four players from last year’s squad have returned this year. ACS will be taking on Suva Grammar School in their first match at 3pm. Meanwhile in games the boys under 19 grade, Yat Sen defeated Xavier College 33-15 and Yat Sen beat Jasper Williams in the under 19 girls grade. In the under 15 boys grade, Suva Grammar School drew with Edupia 14-all while in the girls under 15 grade, Jai Narayan College beat Yat Sen 25-10, and Gospel High School defeated Suva Grammar School 15-11.
