Hoops for Health Back in Action with New Coaches

On Tuesday, 10th of November 2015, Basketball Fiji inducted 6 new coaches to the Hoops for Health programme. With four Primary schools in Suva to visit each day, the new Coaches are astonished at how big their responsibility as a Hoops for Health Coach is. They are now being supervised by either Saula or one of the experienced Hoops for Health Coaches in their probationary stage with Primary School clinics.

Each day the clinics cater about 50 or more students that are taught a little bit about healthy life style choices through the sport of basketball for each session. "You can tell the kids love learning about basketball from their enthusiasm that they bring to each clinic session. Being able to intergrate a little health message in with some basketball skills is killing two birds with one stone," Leah Seru an experienced Hoops for Health Coach said.

"It's amazing how excited the kids are able to learn Basketball and some healthy life choices at the same time," Joshua Cocker, one of the newly recruited coaches said after his first session with the class 4 children of Yat Sen Primary School.
