Youngsters Turn To Basketball in Raiwai

About 150 kids between the ages of 10 to 19 years old were at the Post Fiji Raiwai Youth Development competition at the Raiwai Youth Center yesterday.

The children were taught with the basics rules and skills to develop their interest and the raw talent they have. Raiwai development officer Kelevi Serukalou said they were overwhelmed again with the huge turnout and that basketball had attracted the interest of kids at primary school level to the Open grade.

Serukalou said the turnout doubled from last week and more kids are interested in participating every week.

“Kids from Cunningham, Narere and Delainavesi areas sacrificed their time to learn more about basketball.”

He said most parents dropped their children and went back to do their shopping. Serukalou said even grandparents were present at courtside to support them.

He thanked the support from the Basketball Fiji for helping them out with the development for the past few weeks.
