Basketball on schedule

The Post Fiji Easter Basketball Championship started with eight games on Tuesday night with top bets teams winning their first matches.

Warriors, Shaq-Attack, Bryce, Freshman and Idaman kicked off their campaigns on a winning note.

Tournament organizer and Raiwaqa Basketball official Mala Ravai said they were happy to kick start the championship with eight games with everything being done according to the programme.

"I'm really happy as we completed the first day with teams present at the court before the actual time to start the first game. It shows that they are determined to participate in the championship which was a good sign to us."

"The first day of competition was really exciting and all teams showed they had fully prepared themselves coming into the competition. Top sides like Warriors, Shaq-Attack and Idaman started their campaign on a high note," Ravai said.

"This year's competition would be different and already we've witness the high performance of some team on the first day. It's overwhelming the first eight games were all good games," he said.

Raiwaqa Basketball is the first association to host a national championship like this and Ravai said they had set the trend for others to follow.

"This is a good sign of development of the sport in the country and already we had set the trend for other associations to follow in the future. We're the first association to organize a national championship like this and we're looking forward to organizing more tournaments in the future," he said.
