Basketball clinic continues at Eds

Fiji Basketball continued with its development programme with a two weeks school holiday clinic at the Eds Court in Raiwaqa organized for young players. Over 50 kaji players attended the clinic with the desire to learn and expand their knowledge of the sport at a tender age. National development officer Laisiasa Puamau and Australian Youth Ambassador Mark Seccombe were the two tutors for children ranging from 7-14 years. It started with the Primary Kaji basketball competition which attracted the interest of young talented players that wanted to take up the sport for a career. And now these dedicated young players attended the clinic to further their knowledge and upgrade their skills of the game to another level.  Puamau said the main idea for the clinic was to maintain the momentum of the kaji competition and continue to develop the raw talents of the players at a young age. The objective of the clinic is to build on the momentum from our Kaji primary schools basketball competition and to continue with the development programme, Puamau said. We hope to close the clinic with a knockout tournament with prizes up for grabs. The clinic starts at 10am to 12.30pm at Eds Court, Raiwaqa. We had close to 50 young kids participating in the clinic and the kids range between 7 to 14 years old. The clinic teaches ball skills, dribbling, passing, shooting and learning the correct principles of running and jumping.

Meanwhile, Puamau said they're going to identify teams for the Junior League competition for kids under the age of 14 years old. These are the visions of the new executives at BF. The Raiwaqa Players Association has also been helping out in coaching. Our corporate sponsor Post Fiji generously invested money into BF development programme and through these clinics these kids have been blessed, he added.
