Guamania Senior National Team Take Top Seed in the Women's Division

The much anticipated game between two undefeated women's team finally ended with the Guamania Senior National Team coming out on top over the CalvoTenorio Elite. It looked good for Elite during the start of the first quarter by winning the tip off and scoring the first 3 points by a free throw made by Mallery Duenas and an offensive rebound put up by Iona Evangelista. The Senior Nationals started off rocky missing several of their perimeter shots.

Brianna Benito put the Senior Nationals on the board by making both of her free throws after being fouled by Christina French from Elite. The teams continued their competitive play, each team making turnovers and missed shots. Evangelista and Duenas put up 2 more points each making the score 6-2. It seemed like the Elite were going to take over, but Joneal Cruz shot a 3 pointer making it 6-5. The Elite could not answer with a made shot and instead erred making two turnovers in a row, which then landed ball in Lily Baranda's hands for another 3 pointer for the Senior Nationals giving them their first lead of the game 8-6. Lisa Reyes answered Baranda's shot with a 2 pointer tieing the game at 8-8. This was the last time the Elite came close to taking the lead once again.

The Senior Nationals' continued sinking their three pointers and free throws while Elite tried to look for their shot. Fouling and simple mistakes cost Elite the game, while the Senior National's took advantage of those mistakes and finished off with a win over Elite 58-42.

Senior National's Brianna Benito was 8 for 10 on the charity line and team mate Lily Baranda scored 12 points. Iona Evangelista scored 14 for the Elite team.
