CAMP PASS IT ON

In connection with the preparations for the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women, which will take place in Turkey from the 27th of September to the 5th of October 2014, the Turkish Basketball Federation will once again be hosting an international children’s basketball camp and Guam will have the opportunity to send 1 boy and 1 girl age 14 along with a Coach.

Represting Guam will be St Francis School 8th Grader De'Aundre Cruz, Bishop Baumgartner School 8th Grader Rosita Duenas and Southern High School JV Boys Basketball Coach Brent Tipton. In 2010 Gugam was Represented by High School Girls Basketball MVP From Academy of our Lady of Guam Alina Bonto, John F Kennedy Islanders also High School Boys MVP Kurtis Silva and Simon Sanchez High School Varsity Coach Jine Ho Han.

This year the Turkish Basketball Federation launched a new social responsibility program, which we call PASS IT ON. The aim of the program is to increase the impact of basketball through social responsibility projects that pass on positive values and experiences from former and current players, coaches, officials and managers to the next generation of our basketball family. The program has been launched simultaneously with our campaign for the Women’s World Championship and naturally the focus for the coming year will be on women’s basketball and the empowerment of young girls and women.

One of the cornerstones of the PASS IT ON program is Camp PASS IT ON. Following the success of the Children of the World camp in 2010 we have decided to build on this tradition. The camp will take place in Istanbul from the 11th until the 17th of August 2014.  This Camp hopes to inspire our youth to become ambassadors for our sport and to embrace positive values such as passion, respect and team spirit.
