FIBA Oceania President and Secretary General Visit
GBC Board Members gathered together to welcome FIBA Oceania President Bob Elphinston and FIBA Oceania Secretary General David Croker for a luncheon meet and greet.
Discussed during this time was the announcement that the 2015 Pacific Games help in PNG will be counted as a World Cup Qualifier for the top 2 finishers. This will provided Guam our oppurtunity to advance and play basketball at ahigher level. Mr Elphinston has stated that he feels Guam along with Fiji and New Caledonia will battle for those 2 spots.
Very exciting news for GBS was FIBA Officials seemed very excited about Tiyan Gym and are will to provide some financial support pending a management plan for the facility once it is completed. FIBA Oceania has endorsed full support for GBC.
ANother topic of discussion was the possibility of Australia providing a mentor coach for the National Teams if requested to help Pacific Games Coaches prepare and to compete at PNG in 2015.
