SIBF elects new executive in AGM 2010

President Don Boykin retains presidency he secured during an extra-ordinary AGM held in 2009 after the resignation of former president Freda Matangi.

Our lifhaus sources have also confirmed that 'SIBF is looking to forge a new path forward into the future and lack of commitment from some of its former executives was a major obstacle to progress''.

The vacant Vice President position formerly held by Eric Chow has also been with SIBF ushering a new vibrant young executive with Uriel Matanani as its newest Vice President. Other members of the SIBF executive are Lysa Wini who is Secretary and Brian Fatai is Treasurer.

"Attendance was not great but the President of Honiara Basketball League Cecil Loti was present.  D. Fenders Basketball Association was also present.  These are the two voting associations based in Honiara.  Malaita and Rennell Bellona Assoications which have always been present in previous AGM were unable to attend."  said our Lifhaus source who attended the AGM yesterday.

Clubs from Honiara were also well represented at the AGM.  "Marist, D.Fenders, Minto Blazers and Arasina were also present so we believe there was a great consensus on the elections. Telekom Basketball Club sent its advanced apologies but provided its nominations to SIBF prior to the meeting."

The new SIBF executive has pledged to continue the hardwork President Boykin and his team of volunteers have already begun.  "Volunteers have been crucial to the survival of SIBF.  They have kept the Federation active and through the support of FIBA-Oceania, SIBF has made significant progress."
