High Schools ready for finals

After some delay to the Finals of the the High School Basketball Championship in Honiara, is now set to take place this weekend.

This was confirmed by executives of the Honiara Basketball Association (HBA) who explained that the delay was due to repair work at the main multi-purpose hall that will be staging the semi-final games.

“We are calling on all school sports teachers and basketball of those high schools competing in this year’s high school basketball competition to prepare well for the coming finals”, a statement from HBA read.

The semi-finals were played on Independence weekend earlier this month and were full of action and excitement. The high school players displayed energy and skills as hundreds came out to watch and support their schools.

The semis for high school boys were Selwyn College and Betikama seventh day Adventist School and King George sixth and Woodford international school while the Girls were Selwyn College and Saint Joseph Tenaru and King George sixth and Betikama .

Selwyn College beat Betikama and will now face KG Six in the finals for the boys’ basketball competition, whilst the girl’s category will see the Betikama taking on Tenaru in their final match up.
